One Month

It is hard for me to believe, but Ruthie was born one month ago today.  It is amazing to me how fast the time has gone, and how much we've gotten to know each other in such a short time.  Jerod was commenting the other day about how incredibly alert and strong she seems compared to when she was born.  And I'm starting to think she feels heavy compared to what she was just a few weeks ago.  She's almost 8.5 lbs already!  The changes happen SO fast - I'm really glad we're  doing this blog so I can remember all of the stages of her life.  One thing is for sure, we have been blessed with a totally beautiful little girl who is almost always happy and content.  She is truly a joy!

To celebrate turning one month, this is how Ruthie spent her morning:

First she spent a long time in the swing watching the mobile and talking to the animals.

Next she took a bath.  I think bath time is one of her favorite activities.  She's always so calm and happy in the water.

Then she dried off in her towel, and tried to eat it too.

And finally she got dressed in one of her tank-top onesies, because it has been a hot first month of life here in Minnesota.  We are all looking forward to the weather cooling off a little bit so we can get outside more.

Photo Shoot

Last Saturday we had a friend of ours (Carlie Ann Photography) take some pictures of Ruthie.  We scheduled the shoot for the morning because that is usually her happiest time of day.  As it turns out, she was super fussy and decided she wasn't having any part in the picture taking.  Amazingly, Carlie captured some really beautiful pictures of Ruth.  We went back over to Carlie's house this morning to pick up the cd of the pictures and Carlie graciously agreed to take a few more pictures of Ruthie with her eyes open, since most of the pictures from last week were of her sleeping.   Thank you Carlie!  I'll post those when we get them.  For now, here are a few of my favorites from last week.

2 Weeks

Ruthie had her two week appointment on Thursday.
She now weighs 7 lbs 10 oz, which is great.
By 2 weeks they want babies to return to their birth weights (7 lbs 7 oz),
so Ruthie is a super star!
They said they wished they had more to tell me, but couldn't find anything wrong with her... she is perfect and beautiful - music to a mother's ears!

This video reminds me of a video of Eila at 2 weeks.  When I watch Ruthie move around I hear Annikka's little voice saying, "Eila you're stretching your arms...you're moving and you're breathing."  So sweet!

My New Favorite Picture

I took this sweet picture today of Ruthie and Daddy.  I love how happy (and handsome) Jerod looks and how content Ruthie looks.  I will be sad when she stops curling up on our chests like this.  So sweet.

Ruthie's First Concert

We went to the Lake Harriet bandshell to hear the Minneapolis Pops concert and hang out with Grandma Kathy.
